We want you to feel confident hiring BooksPublishingHub. Writing, editing, designing, and publishing a book involves real, hands-on work from our team from the first day, so this policy is built to be fair to both sides: you are protected if we do not deliver, and our writers, editors, and designers are paid for the work already done.
This Refund Policy is part of our Terms and Conditions. If your signed project agreement states different refund terms, your agreement applies.
1. How Refunds Work: Milestone-Based
Most of our projects are paid in stages, and refund eligibility depends on how far the project has progressed when you ask to cancel.
- Before work begins: if you cancel within 3 business days of payment and no work has started, you receive a full refund.
- After kickoff, before the first draft or concept is delivered: you receive a refund of the amount paid, minus a kickoff fee of up to 25% of the project price, which covers research, planning, and team time already spent.
- After the first draft, concept, or design is delivered: the work is underway, so refunds cover only the portion of the work that has not yet been started, calculated against the milestones completed. Completed milestones are non-refundable.
- After final delivery or approval: payments for completed and approved work are non-refundable.
2. Service-Specific Rules
- Ghostwriting: because each manuscript is custom-written, refunds are based on the chapters or word count already delivered. Words delivered and accepted are non-refundable. Words not yet written can be refunded.
- Editing and proofreading: once we begin reviewing your manuscript, the editing work done so far is non-refundable. Unstarted portions can be refunded.
- Cover design: a refund is available before the first concept is delivered (less the kickoff fee). Once concepts are shared, the design stage is non-refundable, but you are entitled to the revision rounds in your agreement.
- Formatting and ISBN registration: once ISBNs are purchased or registered in your name, or formatting files are delivered, those costs are non-refundable because they are paid to third parties or completed in full.
- Publishing and distribution: once your book is submitted to retailers or distribution platforms, the setup fees are non-refundable. Fees paid directly to platforms are not refundable by us.
- Marketing and promotion: campaign fees are non-refundable once the campaign is launched or ad spend has been committed. Unused portions that have not been started may be refunded.
- Add-on services and packages: if you cancel one service inside a bundle, the refund is calculated at the individual service price, not the discounted package price.
3. When We Will Issue a Refund Regardless
You are eligible for a refund of the payment for the affected work, in full or in part, if:
- We fail to start the project within 14 days of the agreed start date, for reasons that are not caused by you.
- We miss an agreed delivery date by more than 30 days and cannot offer a reasonable fix you accept.
- We are unable to deliver the service as described in your agreement.
- You are charged more than once, or the wrong amount, by mistake.
4. What Is Not Refundable
- Work completed, delivered, and approved by you.
- Third-party costs already paid on your behalf, such as ISBN registration, stock image or font licenses, copyright registration, and platform fees.
- Dissatisfaction with sales results, rankings, reviews, or the number of copies sold, since these depend on the market and are not guaranteed.
- Cancellations caused by delays or non-response on your side for more than 30 days.
- Requests for changes that fall outside the agreed scope (these can be quoted as new work).
5. Our Satisfaction Promise
Before asking for a refund, we encourage you to tell us what is not working. In most cases we can fix it faster, through additional revision rounds, a different writer, editor, or designer, or adjusted direction, at no extra cost within your agreed scope. Your project manager will respond within one business day.
6. How to Request a Refund
To request a refund, please follow these steps:
- Email support@bookspublishinghub.com with the subject line "Refund Request."
- Include your full name, the email used for payment, your project or invoice details, and the reason for your request.
- We will confirm receipt within 1 business day and review your request within 5 business days.
- If approved, we will tell you the refund amount and how it was calculated.
7. Refund Timing and Method
Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method. Processing usually takes 5 to 10 business days after approval, and your bank may need additional time to post the funds. We cannot refund to a different card or account. Any bank or payment processing fees charged to us on the original transaction may be deducted where permitted by law.
8. Chargebacks and Disputes
If you have a concern about a charge, please contact us before filing a dispute with your bank. We resolve most issues quickly and directly. Filing a chargeback for work that has been delivered may delay your project and result in suspension of Services while the dispute is reviewed.
9. Your Rights
This policy does not limit any consumer rights you may have under the laws where you live.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. The version in effect on the date you signed your project agreement applies to your project.
